Avery is an Ozarkian-born and raised director, producer, educator, and new work fanatic. Professional credits include assistant director for August: Osage County at the Repertory Theatre St. Louis (Amelia Acosta Powell, director) and Page Price with Steel Magnolias at STAGES St. Louis.  They are currently directing The Legend of Georgia McBride at Webster University’s Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts, where they will soon graduate with a B.A. in Directing and a B.A. in English. They love new play development and directed Rust by Basil Parnell at the Arkansas New Play Festival at TheatreSquared. They are in their second year of producing Webster’s New Work Festival: Surfacing. Avery has over three years of Teaching Artist experience working with companies such as COCA and TheatreSqaured and works as the Artistic Associate at the Tennessee Williams Festival STL. As a queer and trans artist from the Bible Belt, Avery is a gritty go-getter who loves the challenge of developing art that everyone can feel a part of.
